When I was little, every year we'd balance an egg (on its end) on this day. What a great way to get a science lesson & see this phenomenom of the vernal equinox.
I've heard that it's not really all that scientific, and generally relies less on earth equilibrium and more on the right combination of egg shape & patience. Turns out there is a lot more information dispelling the idea than backing it up. Nonetheless, it's pretty cool and a great intro for kids (or anyone) to get into earth science.

I'm off the kitchen to get an egg (not hard boiled) and try it once again. Never too late to be amazed!
