"Charlie Brown, you're the only person I know who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem. Maybe Lucy's right. Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest."
- Linus Van Pelt
Perhaps it's the fact that it's dark around here at 4 pm...
or that it's raining...
and cold...
but not snowing.
Or that our parish group is talking about "Advent Conspiracy"...
and I love decorating for Christmas...
but my Santa decorations are an ironic backdrop for that discussion.
Maybe it's that so many of my friends are in...
or moving to...
Seattle.
Maybe it's because I'm comparing myself to people...
who are brilliantly successful in their work...
or living in beautifully clean houses...
or writing witty stories.
Whatever the reason...
I'm feeling like the "Charlie Browniest" today.
Where's Lucy's psychiatrist stand when you need it?

I can relate! I suspect many of us feel a bit like Charlie Brown this time of year.
Feeling the same at the moment and it certainly doesnt make you feel any better when you get in the car and this is what is playing on Spirit......"it's the most wonderful time of the year..... :}"

good to know I'm not alone, but isn't it supposed to be different?
I think that's part of the problem -- we all walk around with this incredible sense of expectation because "it's the holidays!" But you know what? It's just Thursday.
So when you ponder the "brilliantly successful" living in "beautifully clean" homes, remember this one who... admires your mothering so much, envies the love and respect in your marriage, thinks you are a brilliant writer with a beautiful home (which always looks clean to me), is amazed at your insights on the profound and ordinary, and feels so blessed (honored, really) to have you for a friend. Much love to you, my friend.
lm,
your insight, as usual, is wonderful & timely.
mysterious one,
thank you, sister, for such kind words and a budding friendship. You remind me of many reasons to have a thankful heart. And as Jr. Asparagus says, "A thankful heart is a happy heart..."
