A discussion over broccoli mac & cheese...
Obi-1: Mama, what is that neighbors' name?
Me: Which one, Obi-1?
Obi-1: The one with the blue house, down there
He points over our fence & a couple doors down the block.
Me: I don't know their names.
Obi-1: Why not?
Me: Hmm.. good question. I guess I haven't met them yet to ask their names...
Later, they were asking who has the next birthday. Obi-1 will be four in a couple months. He began telling Obi-2 all of the fun things he's done on his birthdays, what kinds of cake or treats we've had, etc.
Me: What do you want to do for your birthday this year, Obi-1?
Obi-1: I want to do something really special.
Me: Like what?
Obi-1: I want to go to that blue house, and ask our neighbor what his name is.

I've been thinking about that question, "who is my neighbor?" How sweet that he knows it is indeed something special to take the time to know somebody else.
