while you were out

I try to carefully hide our true names online, out of a (probably overly sensitive) concern for privacy. That said, I will tell you who I am not...

I am not Phillip Schmidt.

I don't know this person, but I take a lot of calls meant for him. Usually these calls come at naptime or dinnertime. I assumed, when we moved here a year ago, that we had received his former number. Perhaps he had moved and not yet switched his records. Oddly enough, when I've tried to find Mr. Schmidt, I've experienced the same thing as the many callers who've pursued him at my home number. Apparently he has disappeared. Sadly, the calls have not ceased.

Mr. Schmidt, several companies would like to visit with you. Many of them try back week after week and month after month. A few have actually received this number from you in recent months, which I'm hoping was just a simple mistake in filling out paperwork. However, these folks would like your new information. Consider this your opportunity to correct the error, and please let them know that your receptionist has given notice.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my excitment!

We have a phone number issue like that too. Some guy named Eric Something is giving out our phone number to creditors and such. He has no real phone number. He just picked one. So we get collection calls ALL THE TIME. It kinda freaks me out, but then I remember that I'm current and doing fine with my own finances!

I am at almost 3 years with "Julie and Tom's" phone number.... the school district seems to be having the hardest time updating the new number and this is with my help in letting them know they are no longer at mine. One can only hope their focus is on the children and not on the contact info.

Best of luck in convincing the world you are not Mr. Schmidt!
