dapper little men

When I was "young," (and yes, I use this phrase carefully!), I used to see children who were dressed cute, and it made me want children. Seriously. I think it was largely about appearances - I thought they were cute and they'd make great accessories to my life. (And as long as I'm confessing ridiculous reasons to want kids, I also used to see Pottery Barn Kids catalogs and want children, simply so I could put together bedrooms and playrooms that look like those pictures.)

It's safe to say that back then, I wasn't really considering the budget, nor the mindset, that I'd need to have in order to willingly purchase such appearances for my children. No matter. We all need some reason to daydream, and cute kids were mine.

I grew up and found more noble reasons to have and raise children. However, today I saw some kids who brought back that feeling - I tell you, they made me want children. They were such dapper little boys - all dressed in matching outfits, looking like they could have been ready for a yatch club adventure or something. I wasn't the only one who noticed them; I watched the reactions of every person who saw them, and most said, "oooooh, so cute!" or "Oh, you are sooooo handsome!"

The children completely pulled off the part; they held each others' hands as they walked into the building together and laughed at the other's jokes and smiled at their parents. It was truly a moment to just make you want kids!

Seeing those adorable, sweet kiddos made me completely forget any of the not-so-perfect realities of parenthood, and daydream a bit. It made me want to scoop up those boys and take them home with me!

Which, of course, is exactly what I did.
